I am really delighted to make public some big honors that were awarded to me these past couple of weeks.
Microsoft and Xamarin Most Valuable Professional
Xamarin is a firm to “bet your career on”, according to Business Insider (and to myself!!). At IdentityMine, we are very happy to be Xamarin Premier Partner and to develop for all major platforms using C# and .NET. Last year was a busy year with the release of MVVM Light V5 which supports Xamarin.Android, Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Forms. It was also a time of learning for me (well, the life of a software engineer is really made of continuous learning…) and I was excited to start attending the courses of the Xamarin University. I also had the chance to blog, write and talk about Xamarin at multiple occasions, most notably the Xamarin Evolve conference in Atlanta in October.
2015 is also going to be busy with Xamarin activities, for instance in Las Vegas next month with my two sessions (see the side bar on the left!). And the year starts with a bang since Xamarin made me a Most Valuable Professional! This comes on the heels of my renewal as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional on January 1st, and makes me extremely proud and happy. Much of my professional life is revolving around these two firms and their active communities, and the recognition of the work I have been publishing is a fantastic and motivating reward.
Microsoft Regional Director 2.0
In 2013, I had the big honor to be accepted in the Microsoft Regional Director program. This small group of partners is quite exclusive (about 130 RDs worldwide). We are blessed with a very active management who is relentlessly giving us the occasion to talk and give feedback to the Microsoft executives. The RD program is a little like the MVP program but with more of a business and strategy orientation. Most RDs are quite active, for instance with the coordinated organization of the Azure “Road to the Cloud” events that took place worldwide between the end of last year and the beginning of this year. We also have the chance to sit often (either virtually or in person) with execs such as Scott Guthrie, Brian Harry, John Shewchuk, Soma and more.
2015 is a big year for the RD program with a reboot in the “2.0” era. This led the management to ask us to re-nominate ourselves (if we wanted to) and to accept external nominations too. Unfortunately, this caused some existing RDs to exit the program (we will miss you guys) but also new candidates to join the program (welcome!). Everyone is quite excited about this reboot and the ambitious plans for the coming years. I am very excited to be part of the adventure as an “RD 2.0” and very humbled to be part of this great group of professionals.
I am really grateful to the amazing support from the communities I am active in, and the fantastic interactions. This is really what is pushing me to continue the public work that I am doing, every day. This in itself is a fantastic reward. I also want to thank my firm, IdentityMine, for giving me the occasion to work with fantastic colleagues and clients who want nothing less than the best! Without the trust and freedom that I receive, I simply couldn’t do all I do for the community.
