I am flying back home tonight. I’ve been in the US for 1.5 weeks now, and it feels good to know that I’ll be home tomorrow. I really miss my girls, and can’t wait to see them again.
Last week at Microsoft has been great. We met tons of people, and learned a big deal about the future of .NET and other technologies (including WPF and Silverlight). I took the occasion to have lunch with Scott Guthrie (our second meeting in person, the first one was during his last visit to Switzerland), and I was once again amazed at how nice and helpful he always is.
After Redmond, I went to Chicago last Friday, and spent the weekend there. It was not really nice to be away from the family, but I have to admit that I had fun. I rented a car and drove around, to Fry’s for some shopping, to downtown for some sightseeing, and to a few good restaurants for dinner. I also visited the Shedd aquarium on Sunday. It was good, though not as good as I first thought it would be. Next time I promised myself I would try the Field museum.
Yesterday and today were spent training some of our UI developers in using the new UI concepts that I have been working since the summer. It’s pretty great to see these concepts coming to life.
When I turn back over the last year and a half spent using WPF, I really can’t believe how intense and exciting it’s been. Travelling all around the world, meeting some of the best programmers and designers of our time, and bringing my modest contributions to this fabulous work. I feel like I’ve been living on adrenaline for quite some time now :) This could well be the last big trip this year, and I can’t say I am unhappy to spend a little more quiet time home, and especially with my girls!
